Reba is known as the Queen of Country Music. She was five years old when she started her musical career. Reba belongs to a family that was infamous for their barrel racing and rodeo skills and that was one reason for her being a fine athlete. In music she got her first break in the year 1974 when she performed the Star Spangled Banner at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma. It was then that she caught the attention of Red Steagall, who suggested her to begin a career in country music. And today she is most famous as #1 Best-Selling Female Country Artist.
It was later in 1990’s that she thought of giving acting a try. In 2001, she came out with a series named ‘Reba’, where she played the lead and a single mother to three children. Her husband leaves her for a much younger lady, when he finds out that his mistress is pregnant. In the series she is generally considered as kind and caring and she is the one who is taking care of everyone in the house. The series was an instant hit and ran for almost six years and for this role she earned a People’s Choice Award and a Golden Globe nomination.
This was for television but when it comes to music McEntire holds the record for the most Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year Awards (4), Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist Awards (7), and American Music Awards for Favorite Female Country Artist (12).
As far as her personal life is concerned, McEntire was married to Charlie Battles, for eleven years before they got divorced in 1987. After her divorce she moved to Nashville. McEntire then married Narvel Blackstock, her manager and former steel guitar player, in 1989. The couple took control of all aspects of her career. They also have one son, by the name Shelby Steven McEntire Blackstock. She also has three stepchildren. As for now she resides in Beverly Park, an exclusive gated community in Beverly Hills. She also has a large estate in Galatin, Tennessee.
