With more than six hundred performances in theatre, I don’t have to tell you that Melissa wanted to become an actress ever since her childhood. In fact she either wanted to be a lawyer or an actress. It was acting that came out in a better way. Melissa holds a degree in theatre, from Minnesota State University. It was there, that she was cast as Madeline Monroe in Hey City Theater’s production of ‘Tony & Tina’s Wedding.’ With acting in her hand, she then moved on to work as a writer and performer at the improvisational comedy theater ‘The Brave New Workshop.’
She then moved on to film and television acting. She made her film debut in 1996, with the Coen brothers’ Oscar winning movie ‘Fargo’. She also appeared in comedy movies like ‘Recipe for Disaster’ and ‘How High’. She then moved on to television, where she has worked in series like ‘Running With Scissors’, ‘World Cup Comedy Challenge’ and ‘Wanna Bet?’ She was also the host of the shows like ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘The Wizard of Oz, Sing-a-Long’ and ‘15 Minutes of Fem’. She also guest appeared on the shows like ‘Just Shoot Me!’ and ‘The Pitts’. But the series that got her fame was ‘Reba’. In the series she plays the role of Barbara Jean, one of the central characters of the series. She plays the role of new woman in the life of Reba’s former husband, Brock. Her character can be described as an irritating one, but is loved by all because of her being a person with kind and helpful nature. The series ended in 2007.
As far as her personal life is concerned, Melissa is married to actor John Brady. The two were friends for four years before they fell in love with each other. Melissa currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband. The couple also has a son, Riley, who was born in 2005.
